HECHO A MANO

TEXAS CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY COMMERCIAL INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT

Hecho A Mano, meaning “handcrafted,” is a team project made up of me and three other designers within the TCU Interior Design program. The project delivers the design for a refugee center located on the United States–Mexico border, composed of individual housing units for immigrant families.

The center, located in Ciudad Acuña, Mexico, was designed to provide safe, dignified, and functional spaces for families in transition. Each unit incorporates handcrafted elements, emphasizing cultural authenticity, care, and connection to the journeys of the migrants. The overall design balances practicality with warmth, creating a space that feels welcoming, supportive, and thoughtfully considered for those it serves.
